Each student will undergo a two-step process for admittance to candidacy. Each student will complete comprehensive exams that are administered by their advisory committee. Students will also provide an oral defense of their research proposal. These two candidacy procedures will be administered using procedures that confirm to Baylor University Graduate School guidelines. Doctoral Candidates will be allowed to schedule a dissertation defense after completing the following: Candidacy exams (completed at least 1 year prior to a final defense), having two first author, peer reviewed, manuscripts published or in press with a reputable publisher, providing proper notification to the Graduate School, the Department, and the Baylor Community, of the desired defense date.
