Baylor in Great Britain is a summer program sponsored by the School of Business. Participants explore the many sites of Great Britain while taking classes in English, business, economics, marketing, history, and psychology.
Baylor in Peru is a summer program sponsored by the English Department. Students take one Spanish language class and ENG 3378 Travel Writing. This program travels to several great sites in Peru, such as Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, the Sacred Valley, and Rainbow Mountain. Linguistics majors have the option of studying Quechua and doing fieldwork in the Cusco area.
Baylor in Italy offers two English courses during Summer Session I--ENG 2301: "British Literature Survey" and ENG 4316: "Special Topics in Medieval Literature." Students travel to the places that inspired great British authors in Rome, Florence, Venice, and Lake Bolsena. We also spend several weeks in a medieval town called Viterbo.
Baylor in Oxford is a summer study-abroad program that offers Baylor students the amazing opportunity to live and to study in Oxford, England--“the city of dreaming spires.” Baylor students live at Christ Church, the largest and most prestigious of Oxford University colleges. We take our meals in the magnificent Great Hall, have classes overlooking Tom Quad, and enjoy the opportunity to worship in Christ Church Cathedral. After class, students may stroll through Christ Church meadow, punt along the River Isis, or fall asleep under the “Jabberwocky” tree. Christ Church is the setting for portions of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited, Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, and numerous scenes from the Harry Potter movies. We take day trips as a group to Canterbury, London, and Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as 3-day trip excursion to either the Lake District or Edinburgh, Scotland.
Baylor in Maastricht is one of the oldest and most popular study abroad programs at Baylor. Established in 1976, Maastricht University is the youngest university in The Netherlands. While the campus has an "urban campus" feel, all study abroad facilities are housed in beautiful historic buildings in downtown Maastricht and are walking distance from one another. Courses are taught Monday-Thursday, which allows students to explore countries from Spain and Italy all the way to the Arctic Circle.As a group semester abroad program, Baylor in Maastricht creates a unique community atmosphere. Participants will travel with other Baylor students, a graduate assistant, and a Baylor faculty member.
The University of East Anglia, in Norwich, England, offers a semester-long, fully immersive study abroad experience for English majors. UEA is a modern university in an historic city. The university has the oldest and most prestigious creative writing program in the UK, and the nation’s top-ranked program in American Studies. Norwich, home to the largest concentration of medieval buildings of any city north of the Alps, is a vibrant, charming and friendly city, only two hours by train from London. It is England’s first UNESCO City of Literature and is home to numerous literary festivals throughout the year.
