2012 Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Student Literary Contest of the 18th Annual Beall Poetry Festival 2012.

Recognized at a ceremony on March 28, the prize winners were invited to read their work and receive award certificates and cash prizes. The prize winners also were invited to a luncheon with the Festival Poets.

The 2012 contest winners are:

"Still Birth" by JEFFREY BILBRO won The Academy of American Poets Prize and the Virginia Beall Ball Poetry Prize;

"Pentecost" by WARNER ROBINSON is the winner of The Poetry in The Arts, Inc., Dr. Robert G. Collmer Prize (the three Poetry in the Arts, Inc. prizes are given at the behest of the late Mrs. Peggy Lynch);

"Graffiti" by LINDSEY HURTT is the winner of The Poetry in the Arts, Inc., Dr. James Barcus Prize;

"Bangkla Fried Oysters" by KIMBERLY GIBSON is the winner of The Poetry in the Arts, Inc., Dr. Jesse T. Airaudi Prize;

"The Ice Storm" by JOSH CRAIN is the winner of The House of Poetry Prize ;

"Not Worth Praying without Believing" by BETHANY NABERHAUS (1st Place), "New Canopy" by NATHAN ROBERTS (2nd Place), and "Nachthexen" by HANNAH KIRKHART (3rd Place), are the winners of the three Dorothy Scarborough Fiction Awards given by the Beall Poetry Festival.
