2014 Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Student Literary Contest of the 20th Annual Beall Poetry Festival 2014.

Recognized at a ceremony on March 26, the prize winners were invited to read their work and receive award certificates and cash prizes. The prize winners also were invited to a luncheon with the Festival Poets.

The 2014 contest winners are:

"Salt Words" by Audrey Elledge won The Academy of American Poets Prize and the Virginia Beall Ball Poetry Prize;

"Safe" by Tirzah Reilly is the winner of The Poetry in The Arts, Inc., Dr. Robert G. Collmer Prize (the three Poetry in the Arts, Inc. prizes are given at the behest of the late Mrs. Peggy Lynch);

"Birdsong" by Nathan Roberts is the winner of The Poetry in the Arts, Inc., Dr. James Barcus Prize;

"To Ann" by Kelly Kottmer is the winner of The Poetry in the Arts, Inc., Dr. Jesse T. Airaudi Prize;

"Ancestor" by Michelle Herbelin is the winner of The House of Poetry Prize ;

"Canyon" by Kelly Kottmer (1st Place), "Listen to the Lion" by Dustin Morrow (2nd Place), and "The Ship of Theseus" by Andrew Appling (3rd Place), are the winners of the three Dorothy Scarborough Fiction Awards given by the Beall Poetry Festival.
