Civic Learning & Engagement

Civic learning courses enrich the moral, social and intellectual lives of undergraduate students by inviting them to pair academic learning with service to the community and pursuit of the public good. While developing understanding about significant community concerns, students partner with social sector organizations or government agencies to engage in meaningful acts service and become inspired by those who have devoted their lives to the public good.

In civic learning courses students address systemic problems in strategic ways, informed by the needs and culture of the community and their developing expertise. What results is a dynamic mix of service and the life of the mind aimed toward imagining and creating an even greater good.
