Baylor Faculty and Staff:
Last week we informed the campus community of the many efforts that have been made over the past few years to enhance the safety and security of Baylor University
. We have since been notified by the U.S. Department of Education that beginning next month the Clery Act Compliance/Campus Safety Operations group will review Baylor's Annual Fire Safety and Security Reports, as well as the University's Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program and other related safety and security materials, as part of a Clery Program Review.
We are making you aware of this review as Baylor's Clery Office, headed by Shelley Deats, will be contacting many units and individuals from across campus to assist in gathering information and materials. Baylor's Office of General Counsel has also engaged the assistance of Margolis Healy & Associates, a leading education safety and security consulting firm that conducted an external review of the University's Clery Program in 2014, to provide assistance through this process.
Baylor has extended our full cooperation with this DOE review, as it provides another opportunity to demonstrate the significant enhancements that have been made within the Baylor University Police Department and the Department of Public Safety for the benefit of our students, faculty, staff and guests, as well as in the administration of the Clery Act.
