Bicycle Guidelines

Campus bicycle registration is required.

Securing your Bicycle:

Bike Rack

All bicycles on campus must be secured to a bicycle rack.

Bicycles secured to anything other than a bicycle rack are considered improperly secured and may be fined, immobilized or impounded.

Bicycle racks are provided outside of each residence hall and major academic buildings.

U-shaped locks are recommended for the security of your bicycle.

Bicycles may also be stored in your room with the agreement of all roommates.

Abandoned Bicycles:
At the end of each Spring semester, any bicycle that is not Tagged will be considered abandoned. Abandoned bicycles will be removed from campus just after Spring graduation.

Tag your bike before Spring graduation to avoid removal. Tags are available in the Parking Services office starting in April.

Bicycle Safety:
When you ride a bicycle on a roadway within the Baylor University campus, you are a driver. You must follow state laws, give signals, obey stop signs and yield right of way-just as car drivers do. Laws and regulations are designed for the safety of cyclists.

All bicyclists must operate under Texas Motor Vehicle Laws, including stopping at stop signs and red lights, yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks, displaying proper illumination, and riding with the traffic flow.

Persons operating bicycles and other non-motorized devices on campus shall practice courteous, defensive riding, giving right-of-way to pedestrians, traveling at safe speeds, and having their vehicles under control at all times.

Bicycle Repairs:
The Baylor Outdoor Adventure Bike Shop, located at the Marina, helps students learn more about their bike and how to repair it. Students are allowed to watch and even participate while the mechanic teaches you to work on your bike.

Visit their web page for more information: The Bike Shop at the Marina
