First Generation Assistance in Internships and Networking (GAIN)
The First Generation Assistance in Internships and Networking (GAIN) program provides resources to first-generation college students to help ensure their professional success. These internship positions offer first-generation students the ability to gain real world experience while also providing a dedicated mentor in, or related to, the students desired professional field. Students also attend professional development events and training as part of the On-Campus Internship Program (OCIP) to ensure success. All GAIN Interns are paid!
The program was created in 2016 as part of the On-Campus Internship Program and since then, we have created over 60 GAIN internship opportunities.
Areas with GAIN Internship opportunities include:
- Student Success Initiatives; First in Line, VETS, Transfer Success
- Department of Modern Languages and Cultures
- Information Technology Services
- Department of Political Science
- Institutional Research and Testing
- School of Education
- Student Life
- Truett Seminary
- And Many More!!!
All GAIN internships vary by semester. New internship opportunities are created every semester to accomodate first generation students' interests. We currently place interns in administrative and academic departments.
GAIN internships are part of Career & Professional Development’s On-Campus Internship Program.
