Baylor University Vaccine Supply Update

January 15, 2021

For the past several months, there has been an ongoing nationwide mobilization to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.

Over the Christmas break, Baylor University received 300 doses of the Moderna vaccine that were then distributed in accordance with state guidelines to individuals in the Phase 1A group, which included our Health Center staff, emergency responders, medical personnel, and School of Nursing faculty, staff and students who work in hospital settings. We are developing plans for Phase 1B, provided we obtain additional doses, which will include people 65 years of age or older or people 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that places them at increased risk for severe illness.

At this time, Baylor University does not have additional doses of the vaccine. However, if the University does receive doses in the coming weeks or months, we’d like to be ready to distribute those to the appropriate recipients, based on state guidelines, in as timely a manner as possible.

To accomplish that, we’ve created a COVID-19 Vaccination Interest Form that we’re asking you to fill out. This form will allow us to collect your name and applicable information that will help us establish a prioritized list – again, based on state and federal guidelines – and provide the vaccine in a quick and safe manner. Any information you provide will be kept confidential and only managed within our Health Services team.

There is no guarantee as to if or when Baylor will receive more vaccines, and, if received, there is no guarantee that every person who would want a vaccine would be able to obtain one through Baylor. We simply want to be ready if the time comes.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue speaking with your primary care doctors and monitoring local resources like the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District’s website for other vaccination opportunities. If you have additional questions, please call the Baylor Information Call Center at 888-283-2158 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.

We appreciate your patience as we work to make the Baylor University campuses as safe as possible for all faculty, staff, and students.
