CHAMBER SINGERS

Sixteen splendid vocalists in the Baylor University School of Music present the first of their pair of spring concerts, as led by Director of Choral Activities Loyd Hawthorne and conductors emeritus Robert H. Young and Donald Bailey. Also appearing on the concerts will be graduate conductor James Kimmel and accompanist John Elam, and there promises to be a special visit by tenor Randall Umstead, Assistant Professor of Voice.

BAYLOR CAMPUS ORCHESTRA

This ensemble orchestra presents its third and final concert of the spring semester, as led by Associate Professor of String Music Education Michael Alexander. The Baylor Campus Orchestra is comprised of thirty-three Baylor students, whose majors range across virtually every discipline that the university offers. Appearing as soloist in the Larsson work will be Jeffrey Powers, Associate Professor of Horn in the Baylor University School of Music.

BAYLOR SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

On its final concert of the 2008-2009 season, the Baylor Symphony Orchestra performs three acknowledged masterworks and a new piece by student composer Jon Barrett, winner of the Baylor Symphony Overture Competition. The program, entitled ÒTapestry,Ó will also feature (as soloist in the Prokofiev) pianist Alfredo Ovalles, winner of the Baylor Concerto Competition.

WOMEN'S CHOIR

Associate Professor of Choral Music Education Michele Henry leads her 45-member choir in its annual spring concert. Performing as guest pianist for the concert is John Elam. Others taking part include student conductors Jonathan Coffield, Anne Strickland, and Kristen Zbranek, clarinetist Louisa Shepherd, violinist Johann Acu–a, percussionist Bobby Fajardo, bassist Kevin Butler, and guitarist Pat Kelly.
