Madeleine McDermott Hamm '61 is on a mission to save the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Better known as the Astrodome, the nation's first domed stadium once played host to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Astros baseball team, and pretty much every other preeminent Houston event. Now sadly in need of repair, the Dome is in danger of being demolished. But Hamm and her committee of prominent Houstonians have other ideas.

Go Fish
Last month, Alton Jones '85 made headlines from coast to coast--with stories in the
LA Times and on
ESPN and a phone call from the White House. How did he garner that kind of attention? By winning the Bassmaster Classic, the "Super Bowl" of fishing.

Honoring Integrity
On April 3, Dr. Walker Knight '49, longtime editor of
Home Missions magazine and the founding editor and publisher of
Baptists Today, will receive the Judson-Rice Award for his integrity and courage in Baptist life. The award will be presented at the twenty-fifth anniversary dinner of
Baptists Today in Atlanta, Georgia. After resigning from the Home Mission Board in protest of the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention, Knight founded what is now
Baptists Today, a monthly publication. For information about the April 3 event, go to

Information You Can Use
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, five of the ten fastest-growing jobs in the next decade will be related to information systems. And Baylor plans to be on the cutting edge of that trend. Beginning in fall 2009, the Hankamer School of Business will offer a doctoral degree program in information systems, the first PhD program offered in Baylor's School of Business. Go to the
