Good Beginnings
Baylor's thirteenth president, Dr. John Lilley '61, BM '62, MM '64, took office on January 2 and has been meeting with faculty, staff, students, and alumni. "I enjoy and need their advice on lots of issues," he said. After these important discussions on campus, Lilley plans to launch a tour to meet alumni.
Baylor will hold an inauguration ceremony for Dr. Lilley on Friday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus. It is open to the public, and a reception will be held afterward in Burleson Quadrangle. Check your Baylor alumni publications for details on these events.
Perfect Score
We like to believe that our national champion Lady Bears are perfect, and a new NCAA study confirms our assessment. In an NCAA ranking of teams based on graduation success rate (GSR) over six years, the Lady Bears earned a perfect score of 100. But they weren't the only perfect Baylor team. Women's golf, women's tennis, women's track and cross country, and women's volleyball also scored 100. Baylor's football (88) and baseball (85) teams led the Big 12 Conference in the GSR. All thirteen of Baylor's athletic programs scored at or above the Division I national average.

Buckner Chooses Baylor Grad
In late October, David M. Slover '86, MBA '89, was named the executive vice president of the Buckner Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Buckner Benevolences. Slover, who has served more than fifteen years in the professional development field, came to Buckner from Children's Medical Center in Dallas, where he was senior director of development. He and his wife, Carol Glass Slover '89, have two children, Seth and Sarah.
Alum Displays Generosity
Real estate developer Patrick McCuan '65 of Maryland, and his wife, Jill, have donated a dormitory to St. Margaret's School, a college-preparatory boarding and day school in Tappahannock, Virginia. McCuan House, the first dormitory built in fifty years on the school's historic campus, is now home to twenty-four students and three faculty families. McCuan, who is CEO of MDG Companies in Columbia, Maryland, spoke at the dedication ceremony, saying that he and his wife were motivated to make their gift to the school because St. Margaret's had recognized and developed their daughter's potential.
