Welcome parents of new and returning students! The spring semester is in full swing, and we are excited to see what 2012 holds for Baylor and our students! In this issue of Perspectives, we focus on health and wellness -- an important issue for our busy students in the New Year and beyond.
As we look ahead, I encourage you to read the draft of Baylor's Strategic Plan, which has been released for feedback from the entire Baylor community until March. Please take some time to voice your thoughts on the future of our University.

The Baylor Parents League is your connection to the University and other Baylor parents throughout the seasons of your student's journey. We're always just a click or phone call away.

Farewell to the Freshmen Fifteen

College is a world of temptation. Between the early morning coffee fixes, the afternoon frozen yogurt breaks and the late night fast food snacks, students' desire to eat healthy is not always a priority. The infamous "freshmen fifteen" may attack new students and occasionally revisits seasoned scholars. However, parents can rest assured. Baylor Dining Services offers a wide variety of healthy dining options, allowing your student to develop smart eating habits, even during their busy days.

Hitting The Gym For Better Grades?

Students have heard it before: Take good notes. Study hard. Pay attention to the professor. It's the fail-safe formula for success in the classroom. While these techniques remain unquestioned, research shows exercising throughout the week can lead to higher grades. Perhaps our students should be hitting the gym in addition to hitting the books.

Lace Up Your Running Shoes!

Parents, alumni and friends are invited to join students and other runners in Student Foundation's 10th annual Bearathon and 5K run on March 24. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or prefer just to run for fun, your support will make a difference by raising funds for student scholarships. Partner with runners from around the nation to conquer the "Toughest Half-Marathon in Texas" while also changing the lives of students.

We hope to see you there! To save your spot, visit our Bearathon website.
