The Limitations of Theory

When I was a child, I was given a doll;

she spoke in iambic pentameter.

My father taught me her plastic speech,

and my mother taught me to dance with her.

That's the story I was told.

But I know for a fact:

My father was a lovely dancer,

and my mother had a silver tongue.
