The All-Around Student

Student Engagement Scholarship recipients may utilize this option as their semester engagement plan for one semester of their time in the program.

At the start of the semester, the student will be sent a self-tracking cover sheet on which to document a minimum of 50 points of the maximum 95 points below. The tracking sheet and related supporting documents must be submitted to the Student Engagement office (305 Bill Daniel Student Center) be the last class day of the semester to be evaluated for satisfactory fulfillment.

Academic Success

1. Visit at least 3 faculty members twice during their office hours. 5 points
2. Ask someone to be your academic mentor. Meet with that person at least 4 times during the semester. 5 points
3. Ask someone to be a personal mentor. Meet with that person at least 2 times during the semester. 5 points

Student Life

5. Join one of the 320+ student organizations on campus. Attend at least 5 meetings or activities of that organization. Volunteer to serve in some capacity in the group. 10 points
6. Play intramurals, participate in an outdoor adventure event sponsored by the Campus Recreation Department, participate in a club sport, participate in Sing, or attend at least 3 Baylor musical concerts or theater productions. 10 points
7. Participate in at least 5 different university traditions on the Baylor Bucket List. 5 points

Career Prep

8. Begin or add to a portfolio (e-portfolio through Connect if you choose) of your writing samples, class projects, and other successes. 10 points
9. Take the StrengthsFinder through New Student Programs (NSP) and meet with a staff member in NSP to discuss it. 5 points
10. Meet with a career coach in the Baylor University Career Center (BUCC) to assess your interests, values, personality type, strengths, and skills. 5 points
11. Identify 3 individuals who work in fields that interest you. Interview each. Take notes of the questions you asked, an overview of their responses, and your thoughts following the interview. 10 points

Health

13. Workout at least 4 times per week. 5 points
14. Go to a house of worship at least 3 times per month, or participate in a spiritual-development small group at least once every other week. 5 points
15. Obtain a physical health exam at the Baylor Health Center or with your private physician. 5 points
