Dr. Crosby is an ASHA certified speech language pathologist who teaches a graduate-level course in augmentative and alternative communication and severe populations. Her research has focused on parent-implemented interventions through online instruction for parents of children with autism. Primary areas of research involve teaching caregivers practical strategies to increase receptive and expressive language using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in daily routines. Dr Crosby has presented her research and clinical strategies at local, state, and national conferences. Clinically, Dr. Crosby has extensive experience treating a variety of clients of all ages in a private practice, skilled nursing facility, and school setting. Personally, Dr. Crosby’s passion for the field stems from her firsthand experience working with her daughter who has complex communication needs.

Academic Interests and Research:

Dr. Crosby’s academic interests and specialized training are in the areas of autism spectrum disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, childhood language disorders, and parent-implemented interventions. Specifically, she has done extensive research identifying evidence-based practices for online instruction for parents and supporting complex communication needs during shared reading.
