The Department encourages prospective students with an interest in any area of chemistry to apply for admission to our graduate program. Basic requirements include undergraduate research and a bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry, though rare exceptions may be made for closely related degrees. An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 is required. The GRE General Test is required of all applicants, but the chemistry subject exam is optional. GRE scores of successful applicants are typically > 50th percentile, especially in the quantitative score. International applicants should have TOEFL scores of 90 at a minimum.
The application deadline for fall admission into the Ph.D. program is January 7th. Evaluation will begin on this date and continue until all available positions are filled. It is advisable for applicants to submit materials early in the year to receive full consideration and be included in our graduate recruiting events.
