The Department encourages prospective students with an interest in any area of chemistry to apply for admission to our graduate program. Basic requirements include undergraduate research, an undergraduate GPA of 3.0, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry, though rare exceptions can be made for closely related degrees. International applicants should have TOEFL scores of 80 or IELTS scores of 6.5 at a minimum. Other required application materials include a CV, transcripts (unofficial is sufficient for the application process), a personal statement discussing research interests and experience, and 3 letters of recommendation. Submission of supplemental documents and GRE scores is optional.
We are waiving the application fee for domestic students that have a completed application on file by December 1st on Slate. The application deadline for fall admission into the Ph.D. program is January 5th. Evaluation will begin on this date and continue until all available positions are filled. It is advisable for applicants to submit materials early to receive full consideration and be included in our graduate recruiting events.
