Having trouble finding the right place to study?  Unsure of what next step to take on your journey?  In this week's episode of Student Success Stories, Miranda Lee shares how she has approached big decisions in her past as well as those ahead in her future.  She also talks about how she find the right study spaces for her as well as the importance of being present in situations from test taking to time management.

Reason for choosing Baylor:

• Wanted to cheer and stay in Texas
• Prayed for God's help with deciding where to go for school

Study strategies:

• Grabbing a snack
• Comfortable: making sure she’s not hot, cold, or hungry
• Shut down technology
• Cannot go to the library to study
• Study alone

Tools to be successful:

• Plan ahead and plan your day
• Invest in a hard cover/leather planner for time management
• Be present in whatever you do

Morning routine:

• Makes her bed
• Eat breakfast and drink coffee
• If she has a test or an assignment for that day, she’ll complete it while eating breakfast before her classes start

Favorite study spots:

• Business school study rooms
  • Spacious 
  • Outlets for laptops
  • Big screens for presentations
  • White boards
• Nature (somewhere quiet)
  • Cameron Park
  • Front yard

Challenges experienced at Baylor:

• Test taking
  • Reminds herself throughout the test, if she gets stuck on one question to skip it and come back to it later
  • Prioritizes the problems with the most points

• Baylor Cheer Team
• Pi Beta Phi
• Highland Baptist Church

Advice you would give your first semester self:

• Don’t be afraid to ask questions
  • No question is a dumb question
  • If you are lost the first day of school, ask for directions
• Don’t stress over speeches
  • Would get so worked up over a speech
  • Your peers are just as nervous
• Don’t stress over the little things

Favorite coffee order:

• Starbucks
  • cinnamon dolce latte with almond milk 
  • matcha green tea latte

Study breaks:

• Run
• Talk to God and realizing the bigger picture
• Thinks about her struggles and goals
• Hangout with friends
• Board games and cook dinner

• Internship with a finance company in Houston
  • Internal sales intern
  • Full-time job through internship
