- • How can I stay motivated in online classes?

- Remember that completing this class will get you one step closer to your overall goal (e.g., earning degree, admission to graduate school, future job, etc.).
- Set small goals each week.
- Finish all quizzes one day before due date.
- Read all chapters before taking notes.
- Find research articles for paper.
- Reward yourself for completing your weekly goals.
- Take some time to reflect each week on what you have accomplished rather than only focusing on your to-do list.
- • What are some time management tips?

- Make a weekly calendar of hours. Click here for the Weekly Study Calendar word document.
- Pretend that you are still attending your regular class times in person.
- Block these off on your calendar and use that time to work on assignments, reading, attend online lectures, etc. for that class.
- Mark when you will wake-up and go to bed.
- Mark mealtimes.
- After you have these set, mark additional hours you will work check student email, check Canvas, work on assignments, read chapters, take quizzes or exams, etc. for each class.

- • How can I stay disciplined and work on my classwork?

- Remind yourself each day that you are working on these classes to complete your degree and overall goals.
- Remember your college community is going through the same thing. Try to stay positive during this time.
- Reach out to friends and family during this time to stay connected to people.
- • Where should I study?

- Work in an environment that is as similar to as possible the environment you studied at on Baylor’s campus.
- Keep your desk space clear of unnecessary distractions (phone).
- Avoid multitasking!
- Do not watch TV or Netflix while you are reading, taking notes, studying for quizzes/exams.
- • How long should I study before taking a break?

- Use the Pomodoro Method (50-10-50). Set an alarm for 50 minutes and then take a 10-minute break.
- Maintain a consistent schedule each day. Get up at the same time each day.
- Practice good physical hygiene:
- Eat healthy meals.
- Get up, walk around, and exercise.
- Stop working if you feel fatigued.
- Drink plenty of water.
- • How do I study for online quizzes in Canvas over chapter readings?

- Read the chapter you have a quiz over.
- Consider using the SQ4R method of reading:
- Survey, Question, Read, Record, Recite, Review
- Take notes over the reading.
- Try the Cornell Method of notetaking.
- Make flashcards.
- Read and take notes over chapter PowerPoint (if posted in Canvas by professor).
- Study notes and refer back to textbook chapter for clarification.
- Email and ask professor if you are confused over any content before taking quiz.
