Women's Rugby

How do you join the team?

Because rugby is a new sport to many people, joining the team is largely based on the ability of an individual to learn and perform well enough to play the game. This evaluation will take place during practices and will help to determine who will play in matches. Not all members will be on the team for each match, so tryouts are essentially ongoing throughout the season. Becoming a member can happen continuously throughout the semester so it’s never too late to join and show enough effort to make the team.

How often do you practice each week and for how long?

Official practices are held every Monday and Wednesday at the BU Rugby Pitch in front of the BSB. Practices start at 5pm and continue until 7pm. Most players arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to get prepared, stretch, and warm-up.

Where do practices and games happen?

All practices and home games will happen at the BU Rugby Pitch in front of the BSB unless stated otherwise. Away games will be held at schools in our conference. Currently there is no schedule for games, but we are hopeful to be able to play a couple in the spring 2020 semester.

Do you need to have experience to join?

No experience is needed to join the club. The only requirement is a willingness to learn new things and be involved in a contact sport. We are willing and prepared to educate new members about the sport in order to help them reach the level at which the team is at.

What are the dues for this team?

Currently dues are $150 for an academic year. Because we are a new organization, and due to the limit on the number of opposing teams in our conference, it will take a couple years to have a full playing schedule. Because of this, dues are subject to change in future years as the club is able to do more activities.
