Big Bend, TX

Join us for a four day bikepacking loop in Big Bend Ranch State Park, based on one of the International Mountain Bike Association’s epic routes that's aptly titled 'The Other Side of Nowhere'. No not BACKpacking, BIKEpacking. This will be an expedition adventure like no other, combining mountain biking and lightweight backpacking. We will be carrying everything we need with specialized bike bags. This will be a small expedition with only a limited number of participants allowed as we work through this new adventure together. We will work on biking skills, camping skills, lightweight camping techniques, as well as bike maintenance. Familiarity and comfort with riding a mountain bike is highly recommended. We will have a pre-trip meeting, a group pre-ride, and a fitness assessment prior to Spring Break.

Area Description:
Big Bend Ranch State Park, is the place that draws mountain bikers, with it endless stretches of singletrack and epic jeep trails. The relatively new park is laced with 230+ miles of rideable off-road tracks, an IMBA Epic, and countless options for backcountry camping. The former working ranch is spread over a beautiful 300,000+ acre tract of Chihuahua desert canyonlands carved by the Rio Grande.
Riding surface ranges from smooth and fast lines to technically rough and rocky features. There are long and flowing sections, as well as tight thorny areas with periodic ledges and dips into sandy and loose rock washes. These amazing desert trail conditions can throw a bit of everything your way.
