How many days and hours a week do you practice?
We have two official team practices each week. We practice at the driving range/putting green at Cottonwood on Thursday from 4-6. We also play 18 holes every Sunday afternoon at various Waco courses.
Typically where are your tournaments and practices held?
Practices are typically held at Cottonwood Creek GC or Twin Rivers GC. For tournaments, we typically travel to different Texas cities, such as Fort Worth, College Station, Houston, etc.
What schools do you compete against?
Baylor Club Golf competes in the Texas Region of the NCCGA. The NCCGA is the national governing body for non-varsity collegiate competitive golf. They are currently over 150 club teams across the country. We were a founding member of the Texas Region in the spring of 2013. Other schools in the Texas Region include TCU, Texas A&M, SMU, Houston, Oklahoma St., UT-Tyler and University of Texas.
What are the dues for this club team?
Seasonal dues are usually $175. This includes all practices, Sunday rounds, and a shirt or a pullover. This does not include any tournament or travel fees. Dues structures and what they cover can change on a semester to semester basis due to team size.
When is your season?
The NCCGA has both a fall and spring season with a national tournament for both.
How many players are on the team? How many play in tournaments?
The current BU Club Golf Team has over 20 members, and eight players play on a team in NCCGA tournaments and we usually carry 2-3 teams. The practice rounds are used as qualifying rounds to decide the top eight players for the A team, then the next 8 for B team and so on for regional tournaments.
Do you need to have experience to join?
Competitive golf experience is encouraged but not necessary. Our team members averages range from 76-80 per round for A team, 78-82 for B team and then 82+ for C team.
