Swimming

Are there tryouts for your team?
No, you just have to be able to swim at least two lengths of a twenty-five yard pool without assistance.

How many days and hours a week do you practice?
Practices are held for an hour and a half Monday-Thursday evenings. Times vary by semester.

Typically where are your tournaments and practices held?
We practice at the SLC pool. Home meets are held at the Waco Family YMCA.

What schools do you compete against? What league are you in?
We are a part of the Southwest Swim League and compete against other club teams across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Schools include TCU, UT-Dallas, LA Tech, UNT, TX State, and several others. At the end of the spring semester, we attend the Championship Swim Meet, competing against every school in our league.

What are the dues for this club team?
Dues are $50 per semester which covers team cap, meet entry fees, away competition travel (transportation and hotel).

When is your season? Do you practice in the off-season?
We have both fall and spring seasons. We generally compete in three meets during the fall and four during the spring, including the Championship Swim Meet.

Do you need to have experience to join?
It is preferable that students have some sort of swimming experience, but students need only to be able to swim without assistance to join the club. If students are not confident in the water, we are happy to work with them both during and outside of regular practice times.
