The Rock

The Rock

The Rock is Baylor’s 53 ft freestanding climbing wall, and 13 ft. bouldering pit, located in the McClane Student Life Center. The Rock, and all gear needed to climb, are free for students, faculty and staff.

Over 30 roped climbs, and 33 bouldering problems can be found at the Rock. Our roped climbing ranges in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.13, and our boulders cover the range between V0 and V8. The Rock has several unique features, including overhangs, slabs, imitation natural features, and even a crack formation for crack climbing.

The Rock offers multiple clinics at the Rock as well, including belay clinics, lead climbing, and an introduction to outdoor climbing.

Baylor Outdoor Adventure offers clinics to teach students climbing skills and techniques. Most clinics are designed for beginners; no experience needed.

Baylor Outdoor Adventure hosts two climbing events each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Students travel from schools all over Texas to participate in the event and climb the Rock at Baylor. Information on these events will be posted prior to the event start date.
