Description | In light of the perilous situation faced by our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as other persecuted peoples in Iraq and Syria, a panel discussion is being convened to give our students and faculty a deeper understanding, not only of the present crisis affecting Christians and others, but also how we might respond as a community. On the panel will be Dr. Abdul Saadi (Baylor University) whose home is in Syria and who has just returned from that region, Pastor Jalil Dawood, pastor of the Christian Arabic Church in Dallas, and Mar Awa Royel, bishop of the Assyrian Church (Church of the East). Mar Awa will also be speaking in chapel on Wednesday, September 24. The panel will be moderated by Dr. D. H. Williams, Professor of Religion in Patristics and Historical Theology at Baylor University. This event is being sponsored by the Institute for Faith and Learning, the Department of Religion, and the Office of Spiritual Life. |
