Description | Audience: Faculty/Staff "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen." - Albert Einstein We are human, and, as such, we tend toward the familiar - personalities, people, actions, places, etc. - and often misunderstand the dissimilar. This can lead to stereotypes, lazy brains, and unintentional intolerance. But what can we do about it? Learn how the creativity & innovation approach to diversity & inclusion works by seeking different perspectives, new ideas, knowledge and experiences. Learning Objectives: - Examine how nice, well-meaning people engage in "unintentional intolerance." - Recognize how closed-mindedness and exclusion take place, and how to become more open-minded to new people and novel ideas. - Discover how everyday experiences shape our perspectives and influence our interpretations of the people and world around us. - Develop skills to enhance communication producing increased creativity and more effective teamwork |
