Space Physics: Solar-terrestrial Interactions

Space physics is the study of plasmas in the universe and primarily about the Sun-Earth system, which includes the Sun, solar, wind,
magnetospheres and ionosphere/thermosphere. The Sun-Earth system can strongly influence the performance and reliability of space-borne and
ground-based technological systems and can endanger human life or health as well. The space weather is to understand the physics processes
and to predict the conditions of the geospace environment. Some exciting research has been conducted at the University of Texas at Arlington,
including the imprecision of the energy transfer process between the solar wind, the magnetosphere and the ionosphere, and the variation of
solar irradiance and influence on the upper atmosphere.
