Description | Diversity is oftentimes a topic that is unnecessarily avoided in the workplace due to uncertainty, tension, or misunderstandings--ultimately challenging our ability to be inclusive in the workplace. This diversity workshop, at its core, is about promoting an inclusive workplace culture and demonstrating how to operate in harmony with our diversity. This commitment to inclusiveness and harmony is foundational to our Christian commitment. One focus of this introductory course is to provide clear definitions on the meaning of diversity and its related terms. The programming will begin the process of assisting in identifying opportunities to be inclusive in a diverse environment and how to avoid inappropriate behavior. The mechanism to accomplish this end starts by assuring the participants that the workshop environment is a safe space to be authentic in learning and growing in the areas of diversity and inclusion. While the programming will assist in providing working definitions to help avoid the more obvious pitfalls in the workplace, active inclusivity will require a deeper level of understanding, authenticity, and appreciation for the diversity that exists in the workplace. We will lay the framework for participants to become more confident and better equipped to create a respectful and inclusive workplace community that is consistent with our Christian mission and values.
