Mathematics Dept. invites all of Waco to attend dedication ceremony for the late Dr. Vivienne Malone-Mayes

DescriptionThe mathematics department is inviting all of Waco to attend dedication ceremonies for a memorial to the late Dr. Vivienne Malone-Mayes, Baylor’s first fulltime African American faculty member. The memorial will include a bronze bust of Dr. Malone-Mayes. Also, in this location on the third floor of the Sid Richardson Building (outside the mathematics department entrance), Erik Swanson, exhibit curator and coordinator for Baylor Library, and his staff have created three informative panel displays with text and photos about her life that will be permanently displayed with the bust. President Linda Livingstone and Malone-Mayes’ daughter Patsyanne Wheeler will be among the speakers at the event. For more information, contact Dr. Lance Littlejohn, math department chair.
