|Organized and sponsored by the Department of Physics at Baylor University, Science Thursdays is a series of one-hour talks on various scientific topics. No science background is required, only enthusiasm for and an open interest in science. |
Let There Be Light--At Nanoscale!
How thin can we make a lens? How tightly can we confine light? Lee will discuss progress in “nano-scale optics” and how we could construct ultra small and ultrathin optical components (10000 times smaller than a human hair!). Advancements from nano-optics to next-generation technologies such as ultrathin lenses for display/imaging and ultralight lightsails for space exploration will also be discussed.
Howard Lee (Ph.D., Max Planck Inst.) is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Baylor University.
Join the speaker and guests for coffee and cookies prior to each lecture at 6:30 pm. Science Thursdays lectures are free and open to the public; however, admission to the museum is not included.
