She is currently the Curator of Special Collections at The Hotchkiss School. Anne W. Ackerson served as director of several historic house museums and historical societies in central and eastern New York, director of the Museum Association of New York, and executive director of the national Council of State Archivists. As an independent consultant, Anne now focuses on organizational development and planning, and governance issues for the smaller nonprofit cultural institution.

Baldwin and Ackerson are co-authors of Women in the Museum: Lessons from the Workplace (2017) and Leadership Matters (2013). The latter examines history museum leadership for the 21st century, and continues to evolve as a blog on the subject. Together and individually Baldwin and Ackermann speak frequently at the American Alliance of Museums annual meetings, at many regional museum association meetings, and last fall co-presented a half-day Leadership Forum at the American Association for State and Local History annual meeting. They also co-teach a course on leadership for the Johns Hopkins University Museum Studies program. Baldwin and Ackermann are co-founders of the Gender Equity in Museums Movement (GEMM).
