DescriptionThis course is the perfect introduction to amateur astronomy for all who find themselves drawn to gaze at the starry sky. Instructor Richard Campbell will teach you about stellar and celestial objects and their motion, binoculars, and telescopes. As you participate in outdoor night-sky observation using a variety of observational tools, you will learn to identify constellations and other celestial objects using a planisphere and digital programs. During the final class session on Feb 19, the class will meet for an exclusive tour of the Paul and Jane Meyer Observatory in Valley Mills (students will need to provide their own transportation). All equipment necessary to participate, including a textbook and planisphere to take home, is included in the course fee.
