CELAN04 Hebrew for Beginners

DateJanuary 16 - February 20, 2018
LocationMayborn Museum
DescriptionIn the twenty-first century, if we want to read the Old Testament, we can choose from among dozens of English translations. However, this part of Scripture, also known as the “Hebrew Bible,” was originally written in Hebrew. Understanding the basics of the Hebrew language can illuminate the text in new ways. This six-week course with instructor Rebecca Poe Hays will introduce you to the beautiful, backwards (it reads right to left!) language that is Hebrew and give you new resources to aid in your reading of biblical commentaries and English translations of Scripture. Upon registration, you will receive information about the textbook (around $30 and not included in the course cost) to bring to the first class session.
