Title:NASA Goals for Exploration

Abstract: From Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo to the Orion program, NASA has been a hub of technological development. With a new administration comes a new set of goals for NASA. This presentation will highlight the challenges from the space environment as NASA preserves its presence in low Earth orbit, expands its capabilities to launch humans into space, and explores a myriad of future options for human exploration, culminating with Mars.

Dr. Alred attended the University of Central Arkansas where he received Bachelor of Science degrees in physics and mathematics. He continued on in physics receiving a master’s, followed by a Ph.D., at Baylor University. Dr. Alred was recently named as Deputy Branch Chief for M&P at NASA-JSC. Concurrently to that role, John is also the International Space Station Deputy System Manager for NASA Materials and Processes.
