LLCRS07 Story-telling as Advocacy

DateOctober 3-24, 2017
LocationFirst Presbyterian Church
1100 Austin Ave
Waco, TX 76701
DescriptionJoin Sara Dye, a Baylor Ph.D. candidate in English, to explore the many ways that story-sharing helps foster empathy and connection between people. We will then discuss how story-telling can be incorporated into advocacy efforts—whether informal: for yourself, a friend, or family member; or formal: for a client, patient, or community member. Story-based advocacy is often not only more effective than other types of advocacy, but it is also often more ethical. Our time together will, of course, include a lot of story-sharing.
