With Dr. Kenneth Hafertepe, Chair of the Department of Museum Studies at Baylor, this class will examine German Texan culture through the material things they left behind. First, we will consider their houses made of log, stone, or using the German technique known as fachwerk. Next, we’ll delve into furniture in the neoclassical Biedermeier style and designs for courthouses and other public meeting places. And the course wouldn’t be complete without a look at churches and graveyards!
