DescriptionThe Martin Museum of Art will present an exhibition of selections from the Joe A. Diaz Art Collection. For over 30 years, San Antonio art collector, Joe Diaz, has been collecting contemporary Latino art focusing on emerging and mid-career artists.

The exhibition includes a gallery of work by the renowned artist, Luis Jimenez (1940-2006), known for his colorful fiberglass sculptures and lithographs. Jiménez was strongly influenced by native and Latino cultures, offering a narrative social commentary exploring characters and stereotypes. His work is in numerous collections including the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

A reception with remarks by Joe A. Diaz will be from 5:30-7pm on Thursday, October 8, 2015. The exhibition and event are free and open to the public.
