| Description | The first English opera to remain in the standard repertoire, this three-act tragedy by the brilliantly gifted Henry Purcell was premiered in London in the summer of 1688. A monumental work of the Baroque stage, Dido and Aeneas is considered to be Purcell’s only true opera.
