DescriptionCelebrate Native American Heritage Month at the Mayborn Museum.

November is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, histories, and knowledge generated by Native people. The Mayborn Museum is proud to present: Native American Heritage Speaker Series -- a series of lectures from Native scholars, archaeologists, and museum leaders. Presented in collaboration with Baylor's Department of History and the Texas Collection.

Charlie Walter, Director of Baylor University’s Mayborn Museum Complex, gives us insight into NAGPRA - the Native American Graves Protection Act. Walters will discuss why the Act is important for museums, and how the Mayborn collaborates with the Native people from this area. This casual conversation includes highlights from the Native artifacts in the museum’s collection. You'll learn how the museum cares for the sensitive items in their possession and uses them to tell the Native American story.

This lecture series is included in the price of admission. Museum members and Baylor University students receive free admission.
