2021 Fall Physics Colloquium Series
Rev. Richard R. Andre, C.S.P.
Associate Pastor, St. Austin Church Austin, TX
Is There a Place for Faith in the Scientific Workplace?
When Rich Andre was an optical engineer working in the semiconductor and telescope industries, he never thought that he'd be helping people "see the light" in a whole other way. He's now an ordained Catholic priest serving across the street from the University of Texas-Austin. Surprisingly, many of the skills he picked up in Optics are
quite helpful in his new line of work. (How else does one become a speaker at SXSW?) One of Rich's specialties is helping people in their 20s and 30s -- especially graduate students -- negotiate the first two years of "adulting" after completing their degrees. Join him for a casual, wide-ranging
conversation on how he and others have
reconciled their beliefs in workplaces that focus only on facts and data. All are welcome! This conversation is intended for people of any faith or no faith.
