Electroweak Production of Four Charged Leptons
and Two Jets in Proton-proton Collisions at √S = 13 TeV
In detail evidence for the Electroweak (EW) production of two jets (jj) in association with
two Z bosons and constraints on anomalous quartic gauge couplings are set to be found. Data sample of proton-proton collisions at √S = 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector in 2016 - 2018 and corresponding to an integral luminosity of 137 fb^-1 was used to make above analysis. The search is performed in the fully leptonic final states ZZ → lll’ l’, where l, l’ = e, μ. The EW production of two jets in association with two Z bosons is measured with an observed (expected) significance of 4.0 (3.5) standard deviations.
Microstructural Changes Induced in a Two-Dimensional Plasma Crystal by an Out-of-Plane Dust Particle
Plasma crystals composed of dust particles have been used to study miniscule effects in
structure for the past few decades. A monolayer crystal is formed in an Argon plasma with a mostly uniform dispersion of melamine formaldehyde particles. A larger mass particle is inserted beneath the monolayer which causes structural deformities in the crystal. This system is observed in two circumstances: when the larger test particle is ensnared under the crystal and when the test particle interacts with the monolayer for a short time before moving away. The first case causes permanent
microcracks in the monolayer which can then be exaggerated via interrogation of the test particle with a laser. In the second case, the passing particle only causes temporary changes, and the elastic properties of the crystal are investigated.
