Finding Harvey | Exhibit opening and reception
Date | September 12, 2019 |
Time | 4:00 - 5:00 pm |
Location | Lev's Gathering Space, Crouch Fine Arts Library (third floor of Moody Memorial Library) |
Description | Join the University Libraries as we unveil a special exhibit on the art and influence of eponymous artist "Harvey." Harvey's illustrations provided the cover art for hundreds of black gospel albums in the mid-20th century, and his style is immediately recognizable and unique. This exhibit focuses on the story behind Harvey's life and works and showcases dozens of examples of his commercial and personal creations. Materials are drawn from the Black Gospel Music Restoration Project's collection and the exhibit is curated based on the master's thesis of Robbie Rogers. Interim dean of libraries John S. Wilson will provide remarks at 4:00, with light refreshments to follow. |
