Description | Equity in the Finance and Delivery of Health Care As the US grapples with how to develop sustainable legislation that optimizes health outcomes for all citizens, communities face additional challenges. First, insurers are still largely paying for high-cost inpatient and emergency services with very little investment in population health. Consequently, healthcare delivery systems often lack the basic primary care and community-based infrastructure to properly manage the health of their populations. Through a series of stories from a frontier hospital in one of the most culturally diverse and medically underserved areas in the United States, Anderson describes barriers to equity in health care and offers practical, applicable tools toward effective and sustainable equity in health care delivery. |
