Description | The 2018 Academic Honors Convocation will conclude Academic Honors Week with a celebration of scholarship and academic community. By invitation only, this event will once again be held in Barfield Drawing Room in the Bill Daniel Student Center at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Alex Kostadinov, Baylor Graduate Student in Piano Performance, School of Music, will provide the opening Prelude. President Linda Livingstone will welcome attendees and give the Invocation, to be followed by words of appreciation from Honors College Dean Thomas Hibbs. Then Baylor graduate Mr. Ben Aguiñaga, Chief of Staff in the Office of the Assistant Attorney General in Washington, D.C., will give the keynote address on “Keeping Your Education”. Dr. Wesley Null, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, will next recognize Phi Beta Kappa inductees as a group for their accomplishments, along with the Zeta Chapter President, to be followed by individual recognitions of all Outstanding Students from departments within the College of Arts and Sciences, the Honors College, the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences, and the Schools of Business, Education, Engineering/Computer Science, Music, Nursing, and Social Work, along with their respective Department Chairs/Program Directors and Deans. The program will conclude with the presentation of the Cornelia Marschall Smith Outstanding Professor of the Year Award by Dr. Null, an award given annually to a Baylor faculty member who makes an exceptional contribution to the learning environment at Baylor through teaching, research, and service. Following the Convocation, the Outstanding Students will have an opportunity to have their photo taken with their respective Deans and Department Chairs/Program Directors, and then to participate in a Reception in honors of their accomplishments in the Foyer outside Barfield. |
