| Description | Organized and sponsored by the Department of Physics at Baylor University, Science Thursdays is a series of one-hour talks on various scientific topics. No science background is required, only enthusiasm for and an open interest in science. April 12 James Fulton Looking for Life in All the Dry Places Microbial life is dominant in the desert. Bacteria living in such a harsh environment have developed chemical strategies to persist during long dry intervals. I will highlight ways that I use these biochemicals to trace variations in desert life over time. James Fulton (Ph.D., Penn State) is an Assistant Research Professor of Geosciences at Baylor University. Join the speaker and guests for coffee and cookies prior to each lecture at 6:30 pm. Science Thursdays lectures are free and open to the public; however, admission to the museum is not included. |
