"Driving Mosquitoes into Oblivion"
Recent advances in genetic engineering may provide mechanisms for reducing, if not eliminating, the global burden of mosquito-transmitted diseases. Like many emerging technologies, “gene drive” systems invoke visions of incredible promise for proponents and of catastrophic consequences for detractors. We will explore the science behind mutant mosquitoes and the vigorous debate over their release.
Admission to the lecture is free.
A reception will precede the lecture at 6:30
