DescriptionCASA Weather Radars and the DFW Urban Demonstration Network CASA radars are X-band, relatively low-cost, high-resolution dual-Doppler weather radars that can be used to supplement observations from the NWS network surveillance radars (WSR-88D). Two CASA radars have already been installed in the DFW area as of July 2013, and the initial demonstration network will feature 8 total radars by around 2015. The talk will describe CASA radars, including the differences between CASA and other weather radars currently in use. The concept and planning behind the CASA DFW Urban Demonstration Network will also be discussed.
