Baylor Conversation Series: Faculty Panel on Civil Discourse

DateNovember 15, 2019Time1:30 - 3:30 pm
LocationWaco Hall
DescriptionPresident Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., will host a Baylor Conversation Series focusing on civil discourse for the campus community this fall. Whether in politics, church congregations, on the Baylor campus or even within our own families, there is a significant need for civil discourse in today's society. While we may not agree, civil discourse requires mutual respect and objectivity without hostility, while demonstrating an appreciation for the experiences of others. This topic is vitally important for higher education—and especially at Baylor—as we strive to be a marketplace of ideas and extend the love of Christ toward others.

The President's Baylor Conversation Series will include panels featuring Baylor faculty members, experts from other colleges and universities such as Drs. Tim Muehlhoff and Rick Langer of Biola University, and small group discussions. Nationally renowned speakers Drs. Robert P. George and Cornel West, who have both spoken on this topic as part of the Baylor in Washington program, will conclude this fall's series on Friday, Nov. 15, at 1:30 p.m. in Waco Hall.

The dates, times and participants of other Baylor Conversation Series events for students, faculty and staff may be added to this list and announced to the campus community.
