"Healthy Bodies, Healthy Souls": Armstrong Browning Library's Annual Benefactor's Day featuring Dr. Lesa Scholl

DescriptionThe Armstrong Browning Library proudly welcomes Dr. Lesa Scholl from the University of Adelaide in Australia as our Benefactor's Day lecturer for 2019. Dr. Scholl will present "Healthy Bodies, Healthy Souls: Nineteenth-Century Medicine, Religion, and Literature," which explores the writings of Christina Rossetti, Alice Meynell, and other contemporary writers to examine the ways in which concepts of physical and spiritual health impacted understandings of social justice in nineteenth-century Britain. Dr. Scholl is currently on-site at Baylor, serving as the Armstrong Browning Library's Three-Month Research Fellow. A reception will follow Dr. Scholl's presentation.
