For the past 25 years, Philip Cobb has worked for Johnson & Johnson in the medical device industry. During his tenure, he has held roles in sales, sales training, professional education, marketing, and strategic customer management. He is currently the Area Vice President for the Ethicon business within Johnson & Johnson (J&J), with responsibility for the states of Texas and Oklahoma.
In this role, he leads a team working directly with hospital systems to deliver innovative solutions to their customers and patients. “On a daily basis, I partner with our customers to bring technology and innovative solutions to treat medical conditions, from minor procedures to serious conditions, including cancer. It is a humbling and wonderful opportunity to share in these life-changing impacts.”
A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, Philip began his career as a Naval Aviator and later served as a flight instructor. “A lasting lesson from my time at the academy was learning the value of each individual who you meet. It also taught me that any one person, willing to stand for the right principles, can make a difference.”
Professionally, Philip is proud to have had the opportunity to lead and work with genuine and talented people aiming to make an impact on people’s health and lives around the globe. Personally, he is proud to be a husband and father, helping his sons grow into mature and strong contributors to society.
Philip is involved in J&J’s Veteran’s Leadership Council and the Women’s Leadership and Inclusion groups. Both these groups offer him an opportunity to mentor, coach, and learn from new recruits.
As a member of the ProSales Advisory Board, Philip wants to encourage students to jump in with both feet! “Say yes to each opportunity to compete, to take on a different challenge, to work with individuals you don’t know, and to learn from everyone you meet.”
